A few funny things that have happened in our house lately.  Funny and also perhaps concerning later in life.

Dinnertime conversation last night:

Kate: ROARRRRRR!
Elle: Don't scream at table, Kate.
Kate: I not scream, Elle.  I a Lion.

Well played, Kate.  She gets off on a technicality it would appear.  Clever girl.  Also, Elle would appear to be the rule enforcer here.  But let's fast forward to the conversation they had today at lunch.

Elle:  Get out of crib all by 'self, Kate.
Kate: Nooooo!  No get out of crib all by 'self, Elle.  Mommy & Daddy get me out.

Mommy comes in.

Kate:  Elle told me get out crib all by 'self.

Elle feigns innocence.

They are both clever and mischievous, these two. 

And really stinkin' cute.

Christmas Extravaganza - Part 3

And finally, I believe we have come to the end of our Christmas recap.  It's only 3ish weeks into the New Year.  Slow and steady wins the race.  Or something like that.

We were able to enjoy time with all of our family - it was so nice to have several days each place so we didn't feel super rushed!  I love me some Tennessee Christmases and always have - it's home and it's special and makes me feel warm and fuzzy (thanks for that, Mom & Dad!).  But Christmas in Dixie is mighty fun, too!  I'll say it again - Elle & Kate are blessed to have awesome grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins on both sides and we are so thankful for that!  

And Christmas with my girls?  Rocked.  Christmas has always been my favorite time of year, for a number of reasons, but these kiddos have really kicked it up a notch.  I think even my self-proclaimed Grinch husband would agree.  :)

So, there you have it!  A wonderful Christmas season filled with fun, family, food, lots of laughter and smiles and hugs.  And of course, singing Happy Birthday to baby Jesus.  If only I'd gotten that on video. 

Christmas Extravaganza! Part 2

What Christmas would be complete without Christmas lights and a visit with Santa?

Wait.  He gives me candy?  Um, awesome.

Kate: Still not sure about the big guy, but I totally want Elle's candy cane.

Elle: You don't fool me with your candy cane, buddy.

All in all, a much better reaction to Santa this year than last. 

 Kate would not look at or talk to Santa, but was perfectly content sitting in his lap with a candy cane.  Elle was momentarily distracted by the candy cane, and then just whimpered the rest of the time.  Yay, Santa!

We also checked out some local Christmas lights with our dear friends and neighbors.  The girls thoroughly enjoyed it and I am officially adopting our neighbor as our family photographer as she is the only one (apart from the actual professional photographer) who is able to get the girls to look at the camera AND smile.  At the same time.  What?!
